HOSTEL FOR RITEY PRIMARY SCHOOL(2014)
In 2014, Build Youth Bhutan collaborated with Stanley College in Perth to build a hostel for this remote school. The project was initiated upon the request of Principal of Ritey Primary School who shared the problems faced by his students. Ritey Primary School is a remote school under Sarpang Dzongkhag without access to motorable road and electricity. Many students from distant villages who attend school would live in makeshift hut that really did not shield them from the harsh weather.
Build Youth Bhutan put forward a proposal to Stanley College seeking their support. The proposal was immediately approved for the social benefit of the school. While Stanley College provided the financial support, Build Youth Bhutan coordinated the implementation of the project in close consultation with the school management and community. It was two days trek through leech infested jungles to the school from the nearest road point. The grateful smiles on the faces of many students and the people of the community more than repaid the physical hardship we endured to reach there. The hostel provided much improved shelter to students who were living in makeshift sheds. The project cost approximately Nu.0.45 million.
The hostel was officially inaugurated and handed over on 30th July 2014 .
