International students aspiring to study in Australia require to demonstrate adequate English language proficiency. Students are required to provide evidence of fulfilling English language requirement to satisfy the requirement of the education provider from the time of seeking admission into the colleges/ universities.
Invariably, the following guideline can be used to understand the requirements:
|Certificate, Diploma & Advanced Diploma||Overall 5.5 with no band less than 5||Overall score 55 with Listening 9, Speaking 16, Reading 10, Writing 18||Overall score 42-49 with no section score less than 40|
|Undergraduate||Overall 6.0 to 6.5 with no band less than 5.5 to 60.||Overall score 67 with Listening 12, Speaking 18, Reading 15, Writing 21||Overall score 50-57 with no section score less than 50|
|Postgraduate||Overall 6.5 with no band less than 6.0||Overall score 79 with Listening 19, Speaking 19, Reading 18, Writing 22||Overall score 58-64 with no section score less than 50|

Students are also required to fulfill the English language requirement prescribed for international students by Department of Home Affairs (DHA) of Australia.
